"My body says I'm not ready": Ozzy Osbourne cancels return to stage due to progressive illness

The celebrity addressed his subscribers

Ozzy Osbourne, the British rock singer, one of the founders and a member of Black Sabbath, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2003, has announced that he will not be able to perform at the upcoming Power Trip festival in October. He noted that this decision was difficult for him, but his health condition will not allow him to go on stage.

Osbourne announced this on Instagram. The musician decided to talk about his illness only in 2020, when it was impossible to ignore and hide the manifestations of the disease. The artist, known for his outrageous shows, began to reduce the number of concerts even then (to see the photo, scroll to the end).

"As painful as it was, I had to make the decision to cancel my performance at Power Trip in October. My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came through, I was optimistic about going ahead. Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I'm just not ready yet and I'm too proud to let my first performance in almost five years be incomplete," Ozzy said on his page.

The music festival, where the 74-year-old star was to perform, is scheduled for 6-8 October in Indio, California. The headliners are: AC/DC, Metallica, Guns n' Roses, Iron Maiden and Tool. According to the Brit, he will be replaced by a band whose members are good friends of the singer.

"First and foremost, I want to thank my fans, my band and my team for their unconditional loyalty and continued support. I love you all and I'll see you soon," he said in a statement.

Recently, OBOZREVATEL wrote that singer Madonna got in touch for the first time after an emergency hospitalisation. The pop queen said that she is currently focusing on her health and aims to recover as soon as possible. To learn more, read our article.
