Military poet Vyshebaba and KOLA brought Ukrainians to tears with a song about love at the front: the story is based on real events

The song "The Way" is based on real events

Singer KOLA, in collaboration with poet and Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Pavlo Vyshebaba, has released a new song "The Way" based on a touching love story between a soldier and a girl on the front line. This is not the first time they have collaborated, as they previously recorded the song "To My Daughter" together.

The track brought listeners to tears on YouTube - it was based on a real love story. People from the village where the girl lived were evacuated, but she was still under constant shelling for a long time to be able to be with her beloved. Then Pavlo Vyshebaba forced her to move to a safer city, the press service said.

"Sit down without hesitation, in any carriage, if it is really fate, the knots of the railroad tracks will weave you together" is a part of the poem that perfectly conveys the complexity of such love.

The poet told this story in his verses, and KOLA conveyed all the tenderness of the feelings of that brave girl, her love and pain from separation from her beloved. The authors dedicated the song "The Way" to all the lovers whose love also appeared on the front line, as there are many similar stories.

Pavlo tells how he met and persuaded the girl to leave: "In the summer of 2022, I met a young girl in a village in the Donetsk region on the front line, which was constantly under fire. "Why are you here? You need to evacuate immediately," I insisted. She promised that she would leave soon. But I met her again and again. It turned out that she was in love with a soldier of our 68th Brigade, and that's why she was not leaving. I continued to persuade both her and her brother-in-arms. But she did not listen and stayed for the sake of her beloved, waiting for him to come back from the battlefield. So last Christmas I used my last argument: I gave them this poem. A few weeks later, she evacuated and is now safe."

"When Pavlo offered me to perform a song with him, I immediately agreed and wrote the chorus to it, because the love story of this couple struck me to the core. It's hard to imagine the strength of this girl's feelings, her desperation, her fearlessness... Such love is rare, unconditional and pure, and more people should hear about it," KOLA commented on the premiere.
