Meteorologist has a panic attack on air: the moment was caught on video
Australian meteorologist Nate Byrne had to interrupt his live report because he had a panic attack. The weather presenter said that it was the result of anxiety problems he had been trying to overcome for several years.
After the psychological and physical condition of the TV channel employee improved, he returned to the airwaves, People writes. The man apologized to the viewers who were frightened by his state of health. The exciting moment was captured on video.
In his usual work environment, Nate Byrne was telling Australians about the weather conditions that awaited them in the coming days. However, the meteorologist had to stop his report because of a panic attack – a sudden intense feeling of fear that causes rapid heartbeat, breathing, and sweating.
"We're going to see a lot more rain in the coming days... In fact, I have to stop for a second now. Some of you may know that I sometimes suffer from panic attacks, and that's what's happening right now," the host explained.
A man asked his colleague Lisa Millar to continue the weather forecast in his place. The woman kindly met him halfway, noting that Nate Byrne had previously openly told the audience about his mental health problems. In an article for an Australian media outlet, the meteorologist admitted that his first panic attack occurred during one of his live broadcasts. For a long time, he had to work with psychologists to create a mechanism to overcome the disease, which now occurs once or several times a year.
When Nate Byrne's health improved, he rejoined the live broadcast, apologizing for the sudden increase in anxiety.
"You scared me because I thought I was going to have to finish doing the weather forecast, and I never do that," joked Michael Rowland, the meteorologist's co-host.
