Legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve dedicates César Awards ceremony to Ukraine, appears at the event with symbolic brooch
The legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve has supported Ukraine in a heartfelt gesture. The 81-year-old celebrity dedicated the 50th anniversary ceremony of the prestigious César Awards to our country.
In addition, the star appeared at the event, which, according to Le Figaro, took place a few hours after tense negotiations between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump at the White House, with a symbolic accessory. The actress pinned a yellow and blue brooch on her jacket. The video of her speech was posted on the CANAL+ channel's page on the X.
"I declare the 50th César Awards ceremony open, and I dedicate it to Ukraine," the French film star said on stage.
Catherine Deneuve chose a stylish and quite impressive outfit for the ceremony. She combined a black floor-length skirt, an oversized jacket and a shimmering silver blouse, which became an interesting accent element of the look. The actress decorated the lapel with a small brooch with the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
By the way, it is worth noting that this is not the first time Catherine Deneuve has openly expressed support for Ukraine. In 2023, at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival, the celebrity recited Lesya Ukrainka's poem called "Hope" in French, barely holding back her tears.
And it's not the first time the actress has worn a symbolic piece of jewelry. In 2024, she appeared at Paris Fashion Week with a blue and yellow brooch. At the time, the celebrity apparently accidentally pinned the national symbol incorrectly, namely upside down. However, two days later, Deneuve corrected the mistake and attended the Loewe fall/winter 2024-2025 womenswear show with the blue side up.
