Legend in the art world: Marvel Spider-Man artist John Romita Sr. dies

On June 12, 2023, the legendary Marvel Comics artist John Romita Sr. passed away. The sad news was announced by his son, John Romita Jr, who followed in his famous father's footsteps. According to the information, the man died in his sleep. On 24 January 2023, he turned 93 years old.

The artist began his career in comics in 1949 at Timely Comics. In the 1950s, he worked for DC Comics, and in 1965, he joined Marvel. In 1966, he replaced Steve Ditko in the process of creating the largest comic book series, The Amazing Spider-Man. In 1972, Romita became Marvel's art director.
In November 1952, John Romita Sr. married Virginia Hopkins, a traffic manager at Marvel. She gave her husband two sons, Victor and John.
