Klopotenko confesses why he had to pay a bribe: he got into an accident and was at fault
Ukrainian chef and restaurateur Yevhen Klopotenko talked about a situation when he had to pay a bribe. According to the winner of the "MasterChef" show, in 2006 he was involved in an accident, but at the time he had no insurance.
"I once had an accident. I was at fault, but I didn't have insurance. Well, I immediately calculated how much it would cost to repair the car. It cost as much as my car," Klopotenko admitted in an interview with Alina Dorotiuk. Then the star arranged with the insurance company to have the document retroactively issued. For this, the chef had to pay a fine for the car, and later a court hearing was held.
In addition, Klopotenko's driver's license was taken away. As the restaurateur added, he used to be able to give the police 50 hryvnias for speeding, and once even "paid off" with an unusual bribe – 10 jars of jam. "But, in general, my position is that this is all, a road to nowhere," the celebrity said.
For now, Klopotenko does not drive, but uses a driver: "I have a driver, because I have a lot of things to do, and I work on my phone, actually. And when I go somewhere, I have to arrive, park, get out, walk, sit down. So I work in the car, it's my office."
