Kate Middleton's eldest son Prince George broke protocol by coming to a meeting with Obama in a bathrobe
In 2016, Kate Middleton's eldest son, Prince George, broke protocol twice when he had the opportunity to meet with then-U.S. President Barack Obama. Royalty is obliged to follow strict rules almost from birth: from the length of their pants to the way they move.
At the age of almost three, Prince George showed up at a meeting with Obama at his home, sleepy and wearing a cute personalized bathrobe and pajamas. The boy was hardly expecting guests. As HELLO! points out, royal young children are not allowed to meet with heads of state in the first place, although this was not the first time that this obligation was violated.
It was not the event that was fatal at all, but Prince William's home image, which was a "transgression" of the mandatory dress code protocol. The boy appeared in front of the public in cute plaid pajamas, a white robe with the name George embroidered on it, and slippers with airplanes on them.

The child in the photo posted by the White House on social network X, although he does not understand what is happening, extends his small hand to say hello. Obama then tried to joke about the incident, casually calling it a "slap in the face."
"Last week, Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe. It was a slap in the face. A clear violation of protocol," Obama said.
It is worth noting that the royal dress code contains only three options:
- A suit with a white tie. Such outfits are worn only for state banquets or royal events. Women are required to wear a long evening dress.
- A suit with a dark tie. This dress code is usually required for most events, as they are less formal. Ladies are allowed to choose any pantsuit or cocktail dress.
- Loose clothing. This is the same dress code for all informal events and on normal "home" days.
