It became known whether Ukraine will participate in Eurovision 2025

Suspilne has confirmed Ukraine's participation in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in 2025. The show is to take place in Switzerland after last year's top prize, a crystal microphone, went to Nemo with their song The Code.

Despite all the indignation of Ukrainians who believe that Ukraine's participation in such competitions is inappropriate in times of war, the chairman of the board of Suspilne, Mykola Chernotytskyi, explains that Eurovision has long been a platform for our country's communication with the world. This was reported on the website of the Public Broadcasting Company.

"This is an important platform for communication with the world. It is important that Ukraine does not leave the front pages of the world's media, so that the world remembers the war that Russia is waging against us. Eurovision is a key element of cultural diplomacy, and Suspilne will do everything possible to ensure that our country is represented as well as possible," said Chernotytskyi.

Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Eurovision Song Contest Oksana Skybinska also emphasized that the world needs to be reminded of the war in Ukraine once again and to convey important messages through song and encourage people to help.

"Stefania [Eurovision 2022] and Teresa & Maria [Eurovision 2024] resounded loudly throughout Europe, reminding us of the strength of the Ukrainian spirit and the need to support Ukraine in times of war. Now it is extremely important for us that Ukraine continues to be seen and heard, and that our relevant messages are heard even louder and more penetratingly. Eurovision remains a platform where culture speaks not only through music but also through powerful artistic images that can reach those who may not follow the news," she said.

Earlier, it became known that the competition would be held in the Swiss city of Basel. Four others competed to become the host: Geneva, Zurich, Basel and Biel/Bienne.

Thecompetition will take place on May 13, 15, and 17. On the first dates, semifinals will be held, and the last date will be the day of the grand final.

As a reminder, singers alyona alyona and Jerry Heil represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with their song Teresa & Maria. The artists managed to get to the grand final, and as a result of the global vote, they took third place.
