"How zombies look at Putin": Vaikule "smashed" Russians who support the war and renounced Russia forever

Laima Vaikule will not return to Russia

Latvian pop singer Laima Vaikule, who has condemned the bloody war in Ukraine, is confident that she will never perform in Russia. The artist believes that she will not live to see anything change in the terrorist country, as Russians are now "looking at Putin like zombies".

The star suggested that those who have not been brainwashed are aware of the tragic consequences of the Kremlin's policy, but most of them have their "ears waxed". She made this comment in an interview with Nastoyasnoye Vremya on YоuTube (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).

"Those who have not been brainwashed, who understand that there is black and white, are fine. And those who don't understand are like zombies looking at Putin and listening to him say that if they hadn't attacked, Ukraine would have attacked. Can you listen to such nonsense? Can we believe it?" - Vaikule said.

The singer has decided that she will never return to Russia. She does not believe that she will live to see global changes in the minds of Russians.

"Today I want to say never. Everything has to change a lot. What happened in the 90s must happen again. Hope, faith in perestroika, in a better life, in the truth. But I'm unlikely to live to see that time, so I decided for myself that I will never," said Laima Vaikule.

Shortly before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the artist came to the country on tour, as she did every year. Now it is very painful for her to see the consequences of Russian terrorist attacks, for example, in Kharkiv.

"This is how the Russians saved the Russian-speaking city of Kharkiv. Does anyone want to save them? I want to scream, but unfortunately, people living in Russia have their ears waxed shut," the singer added.

By the way, recently Latvia hosted the Vaikule charity festival, which featured anti-military stars. Russian artists Maxim Galkin and Alla Pugacheva were also guests of the evening.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Verka Serdyuchka rocked the stage in her traditional embroidered shirt and her trademark silver star on her head. The singer performed her favourite hits, as well as a modified version of "Russia, Goodbye".
