The family of Vice President Kamala Harris reacted to a sexist statement by Senator James David Vance. Earlier, the politician called the US presidential candidate a "childless cat lady" because the 59-year-old public figure had not given birth to children.
Nevertheless, Harris is the stepmother of her 29-year-old son Cole and 25-year-old daughter Ella from her husband Douglas Emhoff's first marriage. In addition, his ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff supported Kamala. "This is a baseless attack," she told CNN. "For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and me. She is loving, caring, protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it."

The family's response comes after Vance's comments from 3 years ago resurfaced online. The Ohio senator specifically named Harris to claim that "the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children."
