Ukrainian actress Lyubava Greshnova, who in 2017 baptized the daughter of her colleague Galina Bezruk, told why she stayed in Russia to build her career after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Born and raised in Kramatorsk, Bezruk is known to Ukrainian audiences for her leading roles in the films The Last Muscovite and House of Fortune.

"We haven't been in touch since the beginning of the full-scale invasion," says Greshnova, "and I have no information about how she is living now. I know for sure that it was very difficult for her, she was worried. She couldn't make a choice - a child with a Russian passport, and her husband too. And he would not allow her to be taken away. I know that Galia loves Ukraine in her heart. I think it was a difficult decision for her to stay in Russia. I treat her with warmth and love, even though we do not communicate. We used to be family."
"Everyone in our family has a Ukrainian passport," added the actress, who left Russia with her husband, actor Mikhail Pshenychny, and son. "Katia Kuznetsova, who also left Russia, has a civilian husband who is Russian but has long lived abroad. By the way, we did not know Katia before the invasion. Of course, we crossed paths on the set, but we were not friends. And now we are very close."
