The American actor, director and producer, star of the films Once Upon a Time in America and Hair, Trit Williams tragically died in a car accident. The fatal accident occurred in the evening of June 12 in Vermont (USA). The celebrity was 71 years old.

Williams' film agent Barry McPherson commented on his terrible death. According to him, the driver of the car was turning at an intersection and did not notice the actor, who was riding a motorcycle. "He died tonight. He was turning left or right and was cut off by a car. I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy, so talented. The directors loved him. He was the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s and really took pride in his work," McPherson said.

According to the Dorset Fire Chief, the accident occurred at around 17:00. Investigators believe that the driver of the car did not see Trit's motorbike. A medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the victim to a hospital in New York. However, his injuries were not life-threatening.

Williams has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards for his roles in Hair, Prince of the City and A Streetcar Named Desire. The beginning of his career can be considered 1979. The star lived with his wife Pam Van Sant and two children in a country house. The news of his death came as a shock to Williams' fans.
