Golden Globe-winning movie star accused of rape
French actor and director Samuel Theis has been accused of rape after the film Anatomy of a Fall won the Golden Globe and once again confirmed his status as a major Oscar contender. The alleged sexual assault occurred allegedly during the filming of another movie last July.
According to information received from the French newspaper Liberation, the incident occurred on July 1 during filming after a party in an apartment with all the actors and crew. Variety writes about it.
One man from the crew stayed overnight in the apartment after the party due to severe alcohol intoxication. In the morning, according to the alleged victim, Theis raped him.
The actor denies this. However, he does not hide his sexual relationship with his colleague. He says that everything happened with the consent of the parties. The investigation is currently ongoing, and the court has not issued a final verdict.
Meanwhile, the accused's lawyer claims, "There were no elements that would qualify what happened as sexual assault."
It is worth noting that after the accusations, Theis was suspended from filming his third directorial work, I Swear. The film's producer, Caroline Bonmarshand, sought the help of an outside organization to conduct an internal investigation of the cast and crew. As a result of the investigation, it was decided to physically remove Theis from the set and allow him to manage the work remotely.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA also wrote that French actress Hélène Darras accused her colleague Gerard Depardieu of sexual abuse. They both played roles in the film Disco, during the creation of which this terrible situation occurred. The actress equated Gerard's attitude to her during filming as the one to a piece of meat.
