French First Lady Brigitte Macron starred in the famous series: the producer called her very talented
Tomorrow, on September 12, the second part of the fourth season of the cult show "Emily in Paris" will be released on the Netflix streaming platform. The new episodes will feature French First Lady Brigitte Macron, who, according to the show's creators, will surprise us with her acting.
The wife of the French president will play herself in one of the episodes. According to The Guardian, Macron will be dressed in her clothes, "without any special requests" from the series, which is known for its stylish costumes.
The program's creator, Darren Star, told ELLE magazine that Mrs. Macron "has talent." According to Lily Collins, the lead actress in "Emily in Paris," the 71-year-old former teacher's cameo has been in the works for almost two years. "The idea ... came to us when Darren Star and I met her at the Elysee Palace in December 2022," Collins said. "She is a huge fan of the show and took the mention of her in the first season with great humor. It was an honor and a real joy to shoot with her."
This is the second time Macron has played herself on screen. In 2018, she appeared in the French comedy series "Vestiaires," which tells the story of two disabled swimmers. Earlier this year, it was announced that the filming of the six-episode biopic Brigitte, une femme libre would begin.
As for "Emily in Paris," the series has attracted a sizable audience since its launch in 2020. The first half of the fourth season debuted this August with nearly 20 million views, and the show has consistently appeared in Netflix's top 10 – even though it has also made headlines for its absurd storylines and distorted portrayal of Paris. The show has been criticized in France in particular for its stereotypical, fantastical portrayal of life in the city, from the bon vivant lifestyle of the beret to the sanitized, Instagrammable scenes of the capital.
