Dmytro Udovychenko, a violinist from Kharkiv, won the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Violin Competition in Brussels, Belgium. The man won the main prize, the Queen Matilda Prize of 25 thousand euros, and the opportunity to play a large number of concerts in Belgium and abroad. This is the first time that a Ukrainian has won the Violin Competition.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian's triumph was announced on the competition's website. It is known that another bonus for Udovychenko was the opportunity to play Stradivarius' music on the violin for the next four years, namely the Huggins melody of 1708.

Dmytro Udovychenko has been interested in music since he was 5 years old. During his 20 years of career development, he has won numerous competitions and won prizes. In Ukraine, the young man studied at the Kharkiv Specialized Music Boarding School and later moved to Germany and continued his studies at the University of the Arts Folkwang.

Last year, Udovychenko gave his most important two concerts: the first at the Kronberg Academy in Germany, and the second in Belgium with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, created by conductor Oksana Lyniv.

In addition to the winner, other participants also received awards, albeit in smaller amounts: from 20 thousand to 4 thousand euros. In particular, Joshua Brown, who took 2nd place in the overall ranking, won the audience award and received a Musiq3 and a Canvas-Klara, both worth €2,500.

It is known that the music competition was founded in 1937 on the initiative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of Belgium and Belgian violinist Eugène Isaye. According to the organizers, the competition takes place in four stages: preliminary selection behind closed doors and three open rounds. Dmytro Udovychenko managed to overcome all of them.
