She had fun and performed in Moscow, but called Russia an occupier: what is known about the singer Nutsa, who will represent Georgia at Eurovision 2024

Singer Nutsa performed in Russia and Ukraine

Georgian-born singer Nutsa Buzaladze will represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which will be held in Sweden in May. The vocalist has a controversial biography behind her, where you can find both work in the Russian Federation back in 2021 and condemnation of the occupation in 2023.

The star's profile even has photos from Moscow, where she showed off her vacation in a restaurant. The fact that the artist was chosen to participate was announced on the website. She found out about it only recently and hadn't even decided on a song.

In an interview, Nutsa said that she would represent the country with an energetic and danceable composition. The national elements in the song are also in question.

The country did not have a national selection with a large-scale competition on TV. The artist learned that she would be announced as a participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 24 hours before the announcement.

The singer's position on Russia

In 2023, some media outlets, referring to the organizers of the Batumi concerts, stated that the artist had been in Moscow. They said she went to the Russian capital to perform at a private event. Looking ahead, it was true.

The Georgian singer had been there before. Her profile has photos from Moscow dated March 2021, and in the fall of the same year, the artist was already vacationing in Odesa and driving around Kyiv. She not only basked in the hotel, but even performed at the Philharmonic for Ukrainians.

Nutsa wrote a song in Russian three years ago, which is still available on her channel. Around that time, the artist went to film for the propagandist Channel 1 in the show "Let's go, everyone together."

It was only in 2022 that the singer remembered that Russia was an occupying power, and that it had attacked her homeland, among other things.

"Russia is not a market where I would like to continue my career in the present or in the future. Despite numerous offers, all projects or corporate proposals have been rejected. This is my absolutely deliberate decision. My songs are not for Russia, and not for Russians. Moreover, I am invited to a charity concert in Ukraine. It is at this concert that I will once again express my opinion: Russia is an occupier! I say it everywhere," the artist wrote, explaining her visit to Russia in 2023.

At the time, she claimed that she had gone to Russia for her friend's birthday, and at the end of the evening decided to sing there. As for the "charity concerts" in Ukraine, there is no information about them online. After the singer angered Georgians and Ukrainians, she went to conquer America.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that on January 11, the long-awaited songs of the participants of the Ukrainian National Selection for Eurovision 2024 were published. It's been one day since the tracks were released, but we can assume that Ukrainians have already established their favorites among the artists.
