EL Kravchuk's concert in Transcarpathia canceled due to singer's sexual orientation. All details of the scandal

Ukrainian singer EL Kravchuk (Andrii Ostapenko), who has been performing on stage for almost 30 years, faced bullying for the first time because of his appearance. The city of Khust, Zakarpattia region, canceled the artist's performance at the FoRest venue due to allegedly negative comments from residents.

According to the star's press service, the show was discussed a month before the date. Later, the singer's team received a call from art director Viktor, who said that the planned concert had caused a negative response among visitors.

He said that the venue had received comments with insults against the performer, "which I don't even want to repeat." According to Viktor, the negative reaction was caused by the look of the artist.

EL Kravchuk's team accused FoRest's management of being unprofessional.

"It's strange that in modern Ukraine there is still a place for bullying people because of their appearance. I believe that the venue acted unprofessionally, depriving the city residents who were waiting for the concert of the opportunity to listen to their favorite artist. By doing so, they showed that they are very far from European thinking," Andrii Blinov, the singer's manager, said.

The artist himself called the situation a manifestation of "rudeness, ignorance and irrelevance." At the same time, Viktor assured the Telegraf that although there were no complaints against the performer, but he did not want to jeopardize the reputation of the establishment.

"Not knowing the person, we really agreed to perform with EL Kravchuk. So we made an announcement on social media. This post was on our page for just two to four days. But we saw about five negative comments. People wrote that they would no longer come to our establishment if this concert took place. There were comments that I don't even want to repeat. We also had a banquet canceled because of this concert. So we had a few nuances that made us decide to cancel the event. The fact is that people here have a negative attitude to the sexual orientation of the performer," the art director said in a conversation with journalists.
