Not every woman can say goodbye to her long hair, especially if she uses a lot of products every day to make her strands shiny and silky. However, there are star daredevils who once took this step for various reasons: an impulsive decision, a desire for dramatic changes, or, for example, to impress fans.
In OBOZREVATEL's article, find out which celebrities have shaved their heads and why they took this step. Many of them are unrecognizable in their new looks.
1. Kate Hudson
American actress and model Kate Hudson signed a contract to play the role of singer and songwriter Sia in the movie Music. She knew that she would have to shave her head for the character and was ready for it. When Kate's hair was cut off, she loved the new look: she considers it one of the most successful of all her hair experiments. In addition, Hudson is convinced that every brave woman should try shaving her head at least once in her life.
2. Demi Lovato
Since the beginning of her career, American actress and singer Demi Lovato has been surprising her fans with creative hairstyles. She easily dyed her strands pink, green, red, and blue, as well as made a pixie, bob, or other haircut. In December 2021, Demi cut her hair off completely. Why?
"I wanted to get rid of all gender and sexual norms. And when I cut my hair, I felt so free because I wasn't joining an ideal or a belief. I was who I am," the celebrity explained on The Drew Barrymore Show. Since then, Lovato hasn't been afraid to try some of the most daring fashion trends if they make her happy.
3. Jessie J
In 2013, British R&B/pop singer, songwriter and feminist Jessie J shaved her head live on air to raise money for the charity organization Comic Relief. Later, the star met with people who were saved by the organization. These were HIV-positive men and women, as well as girls who had been victims of sex trafficking. Then Jesse said with tears in her eyes that shaving her head "was the least I could do to help people who needed it so much."
4. Demi Moore
American actress Demi Moore had to cut her hair for her role in the 1997 movie G.I. Jane. At the time, she liked the fact that the new hairstyle required much less maintenance than her long locks, but she still grew them back. "I think now that I'm older, I have nothing to prove. If they (the directors - Ed.) really need to change my hair, they can give me a wig," Demi told PEOPLE.
5. Karen Gillan
Scottish actress and former model Karen Gillan played the character Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Marvel Studios persuaded the celebrity to shave her head for the role. "They shaved my hair and then said they were going to make a wig out of it so I could keep it," Karen told Yahoo UK.
