Charles III's sister hospitalized due to dangerous hobby: what is known about the 73-year-old princess's condition
Princess Anne, 73, the sister of King Charles III of Great Britain, was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol due to a traumatic incident that occurred at the Gatcombe Park estate. As the media learned, she was hospitalized after an unsuccessful horseback ride.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said that Princess Anne had suffered a concussion and "minor injuries," but they are in no hurry to discharge her. Doctors are currently monitoring the condition of the daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
"Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. The King is closely monitoring developments and joins the entire royal family in extending his best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Princess," the website says.
According to media reports, Princess Anne was injured while practicing her favorite but dangerous hobby, horseback riding. British citizens are inclined to believe that the animal hit the rider or threw her off.
The victim was accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence. It was he who accompanied the chosen one to the hospital.
It is expected that the princess will miss at least 9 scheduled appearances, including a trip to Canada and a banquet organized by the king in honor of Japanese Emperor Naruhito.
The entire British community is aware of the King's sister's love of horseback riding. In 1976, she rode a horse at the Olympic Games and became the first member of the royal family to do so. Recently, the 73-year-old princess demonstrated her skills at the Trooping the Color parade and almost lost control of the animal. Fortunately, the horse was tamed.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that Princess Kate Middleton, who is battling cancer, appeared at the celebration for the first time in six months. Her subjects were looking forward to this meeting.
