Cancer-free after 9 years: how the disease changed Dolph Lundgren, action movie legend and Putin fan
Actor Dolph Lundgren, a star of 90s action movies, shared good news regarding his health. After 9 years of fierce battle, he was able to defeat cancer.
The celebrity told about it on his Instagram page. He posted a video from his hospital room, where he noted that he needed to undergo another surgery to remove the last tumor.
"Alright, here I am [at] UCLA, about to go in and get rid of that last tumor — and, since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I'll be cancer-free, so I'm looking forward to this procedure. Yeah, it's been a rough ride and really taught me how to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life. It's the only way to go. Alright, they're coming to get me, see ya!," the actor said.
Dolph Lundgren was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015. Back then, experts found a tumor in the star's kidney and said that if he underwent an urgent operation to remove it, the disease would recede. At first, the doctors' predictions came true, but in 2020, the oncology returned.
Experts assumed that the actor had only two or three years to live, so they advised him to spend more time with his family and take a break from his career.
How the disease changed the actor
Dolph Lundgren achieved worldwide recognition by participating in popular films, including Rocky IV, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Universal Soldier, The Punisher, and The Expendables. The celebrity is a martial arts master and has been bodybuilding for a long time, impressing fans with his fitness.
However, when the actor was diagnosed with cancer, his appearance changed somewhat. The constant chemotherapy, medication and surgeries did not go unnoticed. Of course, Dolph Lundgren is still in good shape, but his muscles have noticeably shrunk.
The star's admiration for Putin
In 2017, the star of cult action movies spoke publicly about his admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dolph Lundgren then said that Russia was "blessed" to have a president like Putin. "If the country had someone weak as its leader, no one knows how everything would turn out for the country," he added.
Two years later, the celebrity expressed his desire to meet Putin in person. As noted by Russian director Alexander Balanov, the actor wanted to march with the president of the aggressor country during the Victory Day parade as part of Immortal Regiment and carry a portrait of his grandfather, who died during the war.
