Anne Whitfield, star of the cult movie "White Christmas", has died at 85 after a terrible accident

Actress Anne Whitfield died in hospital

Actress Anne Whitfield, known for her role as Susan Waverly in the 1954 cult film "White Christmas," has died at the age of 85. She reportedly suffered an "unexpected accident".

The cause of death was not specified, but Express journalists learned that the tragic incident occurred near her home. The actress died later in the hospital on February 15.

The 85-year-old pensioner met with the accident in Washington, D.C., when she went for a walk. The accident was witnessed by neighbors who provided the woman with qualified medical care.

This extended her life a little bit and allowed her family to say goodbye to the mother and grandmother of seven grandchildren.

They said: "Thanks to the kindness of the neighbors who provided expert medical care, the family had the gift of saying goodbye to her and expressing love and gratitude – a gift we will always treasure."

Anne was born on August 27, 1938, and grew up in Mississippi. She began her acting career as a child but did not take root in Hollywood.

After "White Christmas", the star continued to play small roles throughout the 1980s and 90s and last appeared in Robert Altman's dramatic comedy "Wheel of Fortune" in 1999.

After that, she returned to the northern United States because she didn't have enough trees in Los Angeles. This is what she dedicated her life to – nature.

"During her move, Ann dedicated herself to the cause of peace and conservation," her family said.

The funeral will take place on March 22, and everyone who wants to say goodbye to the actress was offered to make charitable contributions or plant trees in her memory.
