Almost bald and missing a tooth: how FourFourTwo football magazine "screwed up" with its prediction about David Beckham
Back in 1998, the FourFourTwo football magazine tried to imagine what David Beckham, who was then playing for Manchester United, would look like in more than 20 years. The footballer in the image was shown almost bald and without a tooth.
However, the editors' imagination was very far from reality, and the footballer himself is still called a sex symbol. The magazine's "screw-up" was mentioned on X, formerly known as Twitter (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).
"In 1998, FourFourTwo magazine predicted that David Beckham would look like this in 2020. It's pretty close," the sports resource noted sarcastically.
In the photo, which was published more than 25 years ago, Beckham "posed" without one tooth, beard and hair above his forehead. At the age of 45, the athlete was expected to be partially grey and wrinkle-free.
However, at the age of 48, the football star can boast a decent hairstyle, a thick beard, and a mature look. It is unclear why the magazine's editors decided that one of the world's most famous footballers would not be able to afford dental care.
Users suggested that the athlete looks young because of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures. In particular, commenters are sure that Beckham has undergone a hair transplant, so he is not in danger of baldness for some time.
Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote that the Beckhams commented on rumors of the footballer's infidelity for the first time. In 2003, he was caught having an affair with an assistant.
