Actor Serebryakov, who has been criticising Russia for 10 years, suddenly changed his mind and tearfully played along with Russian propaganda
Russian actor Alexei Serebryakov, who had been criticising Russians and the Putin regime for 10 years, suddenly became a propaganda mouthpiece. The actor decided to play along with Putin's agenda and play on the feelings of Russians by telling the story of 13-year-old Polina from the temporarily occupied Horlivka, whose limbs were blown off during shelling by Russian terrorists.
Instead of cooperating with Ukrainian foundations that help injured children, Serebryakov turned to a Russian organisation and the schoolgirl's family, who have been dragged around propaganda shows for a year to justify the genocide of Ukrainians (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).
With tears in his eyes, the actor said that he would help Polina because he wanted her to have a bright future. Interestingly, in 2012, the actor moved to Canada to live a happy life, but he prefers to stay in Russia and live under the pressure of pseudo-media for the child from Horlivka.
Equally important is how Serebryakov announced his charity. The video with the star appeared on the blog of the leader of the band Lyube, Nikolai Rastorguev, who is a strong supporter of the Russian war and terrorism.
In his video, Serebryakov did not mention the war in Ukraine unleashed by Putin. Russians might have guessed that Russian terrorists were responsible for the grief that befell the girl's family, but RosTV insists that it was Ukrainians who shelled Horlivka.
In the comments, Russians were surprised that the actor, who had been trying to tell the truth about the criminal regime for 10 years and condemning the aggressive behaviour of the entire nation, decided to return and support it in its intentions to destroy Ukraine.
Serebryakov's scandalous statements then provoked a strong reaction in society, from the artist's colleagues to politicians. For example, the Russian State Duma noted that they considered the actor's words to be part of a PR campaign by the country's "enemies". Many Russian actors have also spoken out on the matter, harshly condemning their colleague. Some of them even called him a "Russophobe" and a "traitor".
Despite this, Alexei Serebryakov refused to take back his words that the national idea of Russia is based on strength, arrogance and rudeness.
