Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been "officially offered" the role of James Bond. What is known about the actor who may become Daniel Craig's successor
The Bond film franchise has no plans to end, but the lead actor will change again - Aaron Taylor-Johnson, star of The Avengers, Godzilla and Nocturnal Animals, is looking for the role. He has already received an official invitation. Since 2006, Daniel Craig has been 007's agent, and the film community has become accustomed to his image.
If Taylor-Johnson accepts the new role, he will become the seventh actor to play James Bond. According to The Sun, it will be known within the next week whether the star has officially agreed to participate, but he has previously approved of filming in an action movie.
"I think it's fascinating and wonderful that people will see me in this role. I take it as a great compliment," he told Numero.
The 33-year-old actor's desire to play the lead role of Bond was announced in October last year. The Daily Mail, citing insiders, said: "At the moment, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the favorite for the iconic role, he is Barbara Broccoli's [film producer] first choice - he is the one to beat."
Eon Productions, the film company that is directing Bond, plans to start filming this year, but the actor's response puts the process on hold. "Bond is Aaron's job, if he wants to take it. The official offer is on the table, and they [the team members] are waiting for a response. As for Eon, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for a big announcement," an insider told The Sun.
Ever since he was a child, Aaron Taylor-Johnson knew that he would devote his life to theater and film. He got his first role in 2000 in the movie Apocalypse and became popular only in 2008 after the premiere of the youth comedy Angus, Thongs and Suckling.
Even Marvel took notice of the man, and although Taylor-Johnson played a minor role there, his career has been on the rise since 2014. This year, the actor will be seen on the big screens in three movies - Craven the Hunter, Stuntman and Nosferatu - and who knows, maybe his participation in Bond will bring even more success.
In particular, Taylor-Johnson's achievements were marked by several film awards:
- Empire Awards in the Best Debut category for Becoming John Lennon in 2009;
- Golden Globe in the Best Supporting Actor nomination for Nocturnal Animals in 2017;
- Santa Barbara International Film Festival with the Virtuosos Award for Nocturnal Animals in 2017.
The news about Taylor-Johnson's offer to play the world's most famous spy came after fans cast their votes for who they want to see in the role on the Lottoland portal. More than 2000 Britons would be happy to see Luther actor Idris Elba. Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, James Norton and Cillian Murphy are also in the top five. Aaron Taylor-Johnson took only ninth place on the list.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Oscar-winning actor of "Oppenheimer" Cillian Murphy claimed to play James Bond. The film community claimed that they would be happy to watch the upcoming films, and for the creators of Bond, the leading Hollywood star was supposed to regain popularity.
