A video by Ukrainian tiktoker Angelina Pychyk, who is known for her polling videos among Kyiv residents, has gone viral. The vlogger asks residents of the capital "How much money do you need for a comfortable life in Kyiv?" and films their answers, after which she publishes them on social media.

One of the heroes of the episode is street musician Yehor Ivanov. Pichyk met him on Khreshchatyk while he was playing the piano. Despite the fact that respondents usually name large sums of money that they believe will help them live comfortably in the capital, Ivanov admitted that 10 thousand hryvnias would be enough for him. The video quickly went viral online, gaining 1 million views, and sparked a discussion among users.

The musician noted that he doesn't spend money on renting an apartment because he is from Kyiv and has his own place in the city center. According to Yegor, he goes shopping at the supermarket near his home, preferring discounted goods. "I went in, bought food for 200 hryvnias, and that's enough for me for 3 days, because I have a supply of buckwheat and pasta," the hero of the video said. Before that, Ivanov noted, he sometimes visits his neighbor, who treats him to treats.

"I work in the theater as a pianist. I used to do sports and martial arts. I just don't worry about it, because let's say I have 1000 hryvnias now. Maybe in a few days I'll have a job and earn another 1000. This is enough for me. I don't have to be poor," he added.

It should be added that the man was wearing clothes from the American sports brand Under Armor. According to a Ukrainian online clothing store, the price of Yegor's sneakers without a discount is more than 6 thousand hryvnias. This was also noted by commentators:

  • "It's great that the person is happy. But it's really worth teaching others how to earn 10 thousand hryvnias and be able to buy Under Armour sneakers, socks and a T-shirt of the same brand for 6 thousand, pay for utilities, medical treatment, food and household items."
  • "Looking at his page, he is a former MMA fighter. And he may actually have money and everything somewhere. But now he lives on what he actually earns. And the question is about his comfort. He is comfortable with this amount alone."

Many people supported the musician, calling him a true Kyivan, a bright personality and an adequate man:

  • "No unnecessary pomp, a real and sincere person!"
  • "Super! So much life in this young man!"
  • "He is the first person who lives on earth and speaks about adequate and correct prices, which 70% of Ukrainians live on, because all the others who live on 5-10 thousand dollars a month are from another planet."
  • "I liked him too, because he is real and open. Many people recognized themselves. Pontificating is pontificating, but many probably live the same way as he does."

However, there were those who criticized the hero of the video. In particular, Ukrainians drew attention to the Russian language and assumed that Yegor did not have a wife and children, which he confirmed in the next video:

  • "He's nice until he has a family and a child. I can't imagine how to live on that kind of money with a nice man."
  • "The language of unhappiness, mutilation and Ukrainian innocent blood cuts my ears."
  • "This is the income of a 25-year-old man, not an adult."
  • "It would be nice for that boy to learn or start speaking Ukrainian, if he knows it."
  • "People find excuses for themselves not to get off their asses and do something, and instead justify the lack of action, accept their failure and poverty. Work hard and you will be successful."
