A TikTok blogger's prank in a store turned into a criminal case: Neither subscribers nor police appreciated the "joke"
The "joke" of 27-year-old TikTok blogger Charles Smith, who creates provocative content, turned into a criminal case. Law enforcement officials in Arizona (USA) drew attention to the prankster's activities after he posted a video of himself spraying harmful pesticides on fresh food in a store.
According to People, the police arrested the Internet activist and charged him with a criminal offense. The young man's action caused strong indignation among his audience, which left many negative comments under the video, which has now been removed from Smith's social network.
According to law enforcement, the blogger decided to organize a prank in a Walmart store. First, the online activist took a can of pesticide that he hadn't paid for and began spraying the substance on food. The chemical got on vegetables, fruits, and grilled chicken that were on the shelves of the retailer.
According to police, Charles Smith posted the provocative video after he left the store. However, the blogger had to face a lot of hate because of his misconduct, so he decided to return to Walmart and pick up the damaged goods.
"Through investigative efforts and with the assistance of the police, detectives were able to identify Smith as a suspect. Law enforcement officials contacted Smith and he voluntarily came forward, confessing to the theft and spraying of the pesticide," the police said.
For their part, store representatives said that after the incident, they removed all the spoiled products from the shelves.
"The health and safety of our customers and employees is always a top priority. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers as we work to resolve this issue. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies during the investigation," Walmart said.
