A knife was sticking out of the wall, threats were made to set his clothes on fire: new details of the detention of the Norwegian prince's stepson have surfaced

Police find out new circumstances of the case of the son of the Norwegian Crown Princess

Marius, 27, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, threatened his girlfriend with burning her clothes, and a knife was found at the crime scene. Police have revealed new details about the young man's arrest in Oslo, where he attacked his girlfriend earlier this month.

Anonymous sources told reporters that law enforcement officers have an audio recording in which the crown prince's stepson tells the victim that he will set fire to her belongings if she does not do what he wants. This was reported by the local newspaper Se og Hor.

Details of the incident

On August 4, Marius was detained in an apartment in Oslo, where his 20-year-old girlfriend called the police. The crown prince's stepson is accused of assault. It is a case of psychological and physical violence.

The Norwegian outlet reported that Marius was first charged with "bodily harm" and now with "causing damage" to the apartment. The victim was hospitalized and diagnosed with a concussion. At that time, Marius was held in solitary confinement for 30 hours.

New details

Police officers who visited the crime scene found a knife in the wall of the apartment, which Marius may have stabbed there. Journalists suggested that if the investigation proves that the stepson of the crown prince threatened the woman with a knife, he could even face imprisonment.

In addition to the bladed weapon, fragments of a phone, a broken mirror, and a chandelier were found. The room was covered with glass and small pieces of broken things. The police also have a conversation in which the man is heard threatening the victim with arson.

"Marius is in a relationship with a woman who was physically abused. The police have no information that the woman was seriously injured, but the investigation will determine the severity of the victim's injuries," the police statement said.

Prince Haakon's reaction

The assailant's foster father, who was attending the Olympics in Paris at the time, briefly commented on the incident.

"It's a serious matter when the police are involved, but at the same time, I have no right to go into details," the future king said. The accused and the victim have not yet given detailed statements to the police.

Unlike his brother and sister, Marius does not fulfill royal obligations and does not claim the throne, as he was born in the princess's first marriage.
