The winner of the Miss Bolivia title, Alondra Mercado Campos, was arrested by police. The 22-year-old is accused of arms trafficking.
This was reported by the Daily Mail. The suspect has more than 40 thousand followers on Instagram, where she regularly shares her swimsuit photos or pictures in evening dresses with readers.
However, Mercado is now in a women's prison in northeastern Bolivia. According to local media, police found a large number of weapons and ammunition for an AK-47 rifle in her home.
Mercado will be held in custody for 30 days pending a hearing in court. The results of forensic examinations of the girl's car provide grounds for accusations of her involvement in drugs, prosecutors say.
Mercado reportedly chose to remain silent when presented before the court. Her accomplice, Andres Vasquez, is currently on the run and wanted for questioning in connection with drug trafficking.
Videos found on the girl's cell phone show her and Vazquez at several parties with illegal weapons that were seized by police. The investigation is currently ongoing.
