Former Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, who left her post in 2021, continues to bill the Government of the country for the services of a stylist and makeup artist. Thus, the beauty of the politician for the past two years cost the federal government a "tidy" amount - 55 thousand euros (more than 2.2 million hryvnia).

The scandalous details were made public by the Tagesspiegel edition, having obtained the relevant documents through a request under the Freedom of Information Act. The federal government is paying for the 69-year-old Frau's makeup and hairstyles for both public and private events, despite the fact that she has not held the post of chancellor for two years.

It is known that in 2023 Merkel has already billed 17,200 euros (690 thousand hryvnias). In 2022 for the appearance of the ex-chancellor had to fork out 37,780 euros (more than 1.5 million hryvnias).

That is, we can conclude that the former head of government in Berlin is paid about 3,000 euros a month for the hair and makeup of the former head of government.

The publication notes that Merkel has now abandoned the services of her former makeup artist and works with a universal master who is both a hairdresser, makeup artist and fashion designer. If she accompanies a politician to meetings, it involves expenses for her travel and hotel accommodations.

"The assumption of expenses is linked to the fulfillment of permanent official duties - regardless of whether they are public or non-public," the German Chancellery clarified.

Even earlier, the increasing expenditures of officials on make-up and haircuts/hairdressing were expectedly criticized by the public. The president of the Taxpayers' Association, Rainer Golznagel, called for these expenses to be minimized and, if in doubt, to be paid privately.

At the same time, the girlfriend of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who back in 2008 categorically opposed Ukraine and Georgia joining NATO in order not to annoy the bloody Kremlin dictator, creates a "modest" image of herself. The fan of Soviet ideology and Putin's regime used to use her own government flight, but now she allegedly travels in the economy of the low-cost carrier Eurowings.

Media reports say that Merkel allegedly did not stand out among the other passengers of the airliner when she flew with her husband on vacation in March this year. She was sitting modestly by the window, reading something on her tablet, doing crossword puzzles and eating a sandwich taken from home. Except that the couple was accompanied by a bodyguard, they had the opportunity to be the first to leave the plane and flew to a luxurious resort on the Canarian island of Fuerteventura.

As Chancellor Merkel received 35 thousand euros a month. Many people were surprised that with such a salary she continued to live in an ordinary apartment in a five-story Berlin building on the embankment of the river Spree. To create an image of "close to the people," Merkel always went to the supermarket for shopping herself.
