Ukraine is already developing a project to restore the Kakhovka dam: what needs to be done now
In Ukraine, the design institute Ukrhydroproject, together with Ukrhydroenergo, is developing solutions to restore the dam (if it is not completely destroyed). However, in order not to leave consumers without water, first of all it is necessary to close the dam as soon as possible.
The general director of Ukrhydroenergo told this in an interview with DW, the company's press service reports. "We had an urgent meeting with the design institute" Ukrhydroproject ", with experts and are preparing a decision, what will be needed to restore the dam: what mechanisms will be needed, what materials, how much time we will need as soon as possible to close the dam, so that then from the upper reservoirs, where we will accumulate water to the maximum, we could work and fill the Kakhovka reservoir," - he said.
Within three or four days the design institute will develop preliminary design solutions to cover the depletion of Kakhovka reservoir.
Also general director of "Ukrhydroenergo" noted that according to the calculations, which were carried out, it is clear that within four days the Kakhovka reservoir will be worked down to zero. If the dam is not completely destroyed, there may be three meters of water left in the reservoir. However, we will see that in two or three days. However, we understand that, most likely, the dam is destroyed to the ground and the reservoir will be triggered completely.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote earlier, Russian troops detonated the occupied Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant from inside, using explosives. They could have triggered the detonation remotely.
The head of the United Coordinating Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Gumenyuk, said that by their actions the occupiers decided to play a special "card," but it threatens them themselves. According to her, after realizing the scale of their actions, the invaders also proceeded to evacuate from dangerous areas. Thus, the Russians, having no significant advantage on the battlefield, once again resorted to terrorism to blackmail Ukrainian forces.
The Atesh guerrilla movement stated that the bombing of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant was carried out by Russian military from the 1st Battalion of the 205th Motorized Rifle Brigade (Budyonnovsk, Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation).
