Two Colombians who fought for Ukraine detained in Venezuela

On Friday, August 30, Venezuelan security services detained two Colombians who fought for Ukraine. They were extradited to the terrorist state of Russia. The foreigners were arrested by the FSB.

This was reported by the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo. The sister of one of the detainees said that they were noticed and detained because they were wearing the uniform of the Armed Forces of Venezuela – they were traveling to Colombia in transit through the Venezuelan capital Caracas.

Meanwhile, the Russian Service of the BBC reported that the FSB announced the detention and arrest of two Colombian citizens suspected of participating in the war in Ukraine on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During the searches, documents and military uniforms with insignia of the Carpathian Sich battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were seized from them. A criminal case was opened against them under the article on mercenarism.

As a reminder, Russia is a key ally of Venezuela. Russian financial aid and loans to Venezuela amount to billions of dollars.

In addition, Venezuela is one of the largest buyers of Russian military equipment. In the period from 2005 to 2017, the total volume of arms and equipment purchases was estimated at more than $11 billion, including more than 120 tanks and self-propelled artillery systems, about 240 armored personnel carriers, several dozen Grad and Smerch multiple rocket launchers, and air defense systems.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Venezuela is recalling its diplomats from seven Latin American countries. These are the countries that refused to recognize the "victory" of Venezuela's current leader, Nicolas Maduro, in the presidential election.
