Mike Pence will not support Donald Trump in the presidential election

Former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence, who held this position during the presidency of Donald Trump, said he would not support his former boss in this year's US presidential election.

Pence made the announcement on Friday, March 15, Reuters reports. "It is not surprising that I will not support Donald Trump this year," he said.

The publication recalled that Pence publicly parted ways with the former Republican president over his involvement in the riots in the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

"On that day, Pence, who as vice president served in the ceremonial role of president of the US Senate, watched Biden's victory in the 2020 election over Trump confirmed. He refused Trump's instructions to postpone or halt the certification, drawing anger from Trump during the riots. Some rioters shouted, "Hang Mike Pence," the article says.

Earlier, Mike Pence spent several months trying to convince Republican voters that he was the best alternative to Donald Trump. He urged Republicans not to choose Trump as their presidential candidate.

However, in October 2023, Pence eventually decided to end his presidential campaign, explaining that "this is not my time."

As reported, Mike Pence condemned the rhetoric of his fellow Republican party members, who, in his opinion, contribute to aggression against Ukraine and Israel. He was referring to Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, who, in particular, opposed Washington's active assistance to Kyiv to fight the Russian invasion.
