Hungary has reconsidered its position and dropped its objections to the creation of a military assistance fund for Ukraine. Instead, NATO agreed not to include Budapest in this initiative.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing its own sources. On Wednesday, June 12, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to discuss further cooperation between Budapest and the Alliance.

One of the key topics of discussion was support for Ukraine.

Orban noted that Hungary's position in the context of the war in Ukraine differs from the views of most NATO countries. He promised that Budapest would not obstruct assistance to Ukraine and emphasized that Hungary remains a loyal member of the Alliance.

Stoltenberg supported Hungary's decision to "not participate" in NATO's efforts in Ukraine. The Secretary General also agreed to guarantee that Hungary will not be required to participate in any further expansion of the Alliance's support for Ukraine.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced his intention to create a so-called "coalition of peace" in the European Parliament. He also portrays his domestic and international opponents as warmongers who allegedly seek to directly involve Hungary in the conflict.

- And in an interview with an Italian publication, Orban said that only Hungarian citizens are allegedly dying on the Ukrainian front, so, he said, this country has the right to block support for Ukraine.
