Azerbaijan announces the start of anti-terrorist operation in Nagorno-Karabakh: what is known

Azerbaijan has launched "local anti-terrorist measures" in Nagorno-Karabakh to restore constitutional order. "High-precision weapons" were used against the positions of the Armenian army and its military facilities.

This was stated by the republic's Defense Ministry on September 19. At the same time, Azerbaijani media reported that the sky was closed for Armenia.

"As part of the measures involving the use of high-precision weapons, positions on the front line and in deep, long-term firing points of the Armenian Armed Forces, as well as military equipment and military facilities are being disabled. We reiterate that civilians and civilian infrastructure are not under attack," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

They noted that "systematic shelling of the positions" of the Azerbaijani army by Armenia in Karabakh, "continued mining of Azerbaijani territories", engineering improvement of combat positions and an increase in the number of trenches and dugouts in recent months "has caused an even greater increase in tension".
