US fundamentally wants Ukraine to win this war: State Department spokesman makes a loud statement
The U.S. Department of State has stated that it wants Ukraine to win and the aggressor country Russia to be defeated in the full-scale war it has unleashed. This is a principled position of the state.
This statement was made by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller at a briefing on Monday, May 20. He noted that Washington has repeatedly reaffirmed its position not only in words.
In particular, Miller recalled that the United States is helping Ukraine in the security sector by providing military aid packages to fight Russian occupiers on the battlefield.
"We fundamentally want Ukraine to win this war and we have made that clear, including by providing billions of dollars in security assistance," he said.
The U.S. Foreign Service spokesperson emphasized that Washington's position is clear, namely that Ukraine's victory in itself means that Russia will lose this war.
"I think that our position - who we want to see as the winner in this war and who we want to see as the loser - has been pretty clear for more than two years now," Miller added.
As reported, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said after the 22nd meeting in the Ramstein format that Ukraine's partners would continue to ensure that the country has control over its skies. This is necessary to protect the Ukrainian people from Russian missile and drone attacks.
