"Trying to take by attrition": Chief of Defence Staff of the United Kingdom comments on the strategy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces counter-offensive
Currently, the Ukrainian military is making increased efforts to "exhaust the Russian military" and weaken the enemy's defences in the course of the counter-offensive. The Armed Forces of Ukraine aim to overcome the defences of the Russian occupation forces.
This was stated by the Chief of the British Defence Staff, Admiral Tony Radakin. He stressed that the Ukrainian military's counter-offensive has not yet begun "in full".
According to the Admiral, our defenders are now actively pursuing a strategy of "depletion, stretching and striking". The goal is to break through the defences of the Russian occupation forces.
The British Chief of Staff also said that it is wrong to set strict time frames and claim that "the counter-offensive is slow".
"Even in the last few weeks, Ukraine has taken more ground than Russia has over the last year... Russia is so weak that it does not have the forces to launch a significant counter-offensive," the admiral said.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, former British Army intelligence and security officer Philip Ingram said that the Defence Forces could have advanced one kilometre in the direction of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine during the counter-offensive. The front line has now stretched for about 600 km.
