"There is not a single argument": Kuleba makes a statement on the shooting down of Russian missiles over Ukraine by partners from their territory

No legal, security, or moral arguments will and cannot prevent Western partners from shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine from their territory. Anyone who claims otherwise and talks about the threat of escalation is engaged in manipulation.

That is why Kyiv is asking its allies to either consider this possibility or help Ukraine with the necessary air defense systems and combat aircraft that could shoot down air targets. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on May 21 during a joint briefing with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

"There is not a single legal, security, or moral argument that stands in the way of our partners shooting down Russian missiles over the territory of Ukraine from their territory. Those who say that such actions would be an escalation are manipulating," Kuleba emphasized.

He added that the claims about the need to avoid escalation against the backdrop of more than two years of Russia's full-scale unprovoked and aggressive war against Ukraine look strange, to say the least.

There is no legal, security, or moral argument against our partners shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine from their territory. And by working together, we can put an end to this.

"So the first thing is that we do ask our partners to consider the possibility of intercepting Russian missiles – not Russian planes with Russian pilots on board, but pieces of iron that carry death from Russia to Ukraine – from the territory of our partner countries. There is an alternative solution: if you do not want to do this, then simply provide us with all the means necessary for this, and we will deploy them on the territory of Ukraine and intercept these missiles ourselves. These are air defense systems and combat aircraft with the appropriate technical capabilities. And to take a position where we will not transfer air defense systems and will not support the shooting down of Russian missiles from our territory over the territory of Ukraine is a position of appeasement of the aggressor," the head of Ukrainian diplomacy emphasized.

As a reminder, on May 21, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock arrived on an official visit to Kyiv. She visited one of the Ukrainian thermal power plants destroyed by the occupiers and called on the world to help Ukraine with air defense.

It was also reported that on the same day, Zelenskyy discussed the situation on the battlefield and the need for air defense with the Romanian president.
