"The West must take on the commitment": Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlines what Ukraine needs for victory

The head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Western countries should increase military assistance to Ukraine

To achieve victory over the Russian occupiers, Ukraine needs 400 HIMARS systems, not 40. The West must commit itself and provide our country with everything it needs for this.

This opinion was expressed by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis during the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos. In addition, according to him, Ukraine needs to have a thousand tanks, not 80, if the partners genuinely want our country to win the confrontation with Russia.

Western countries should not only demonstrate support but also do everything possible to help Ukraine defeat the terrorist state.

"It would be very good to commit not only to supporting Ukraine as long as necessary but also to say: as long as it takes to win, and to add: whatever it takes to win. This will be a deterrent message for Putin," Landsbergis emphasized.

Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda called for accelerating the provision of military assistance to Ukraine, as it is impossible to deter Russia's military offensive without it. The politician also called economic assistance critical for Ukraine.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he expects defense and political decisions to be made at the North Atlantic Alliance summit. This meeting of representatives of NATO member states will take place in the US capital, Washington, in July this year.
