The "fortress Bakhmut" is standing: the Defense Ministry of Ukraine revealed who is in charge of the city's defense
Heavy fighting for Bakhmut has been going on for two months now. Ukrainian soldiers bravely defend the city, turning it into an indestructible fortress. And the defense of Bakhmut is being led by experienced commanders whose names were revealed in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, revealed thanks to whom the defense of Bakhmut is still holding out. According to her, initially, no one believed that under such intense enemy attacks, it was possible to hold the city for more than a week or two at most.
"But thanks to the courage and heroism of thousands of our soldiers, as well as the skillful leadership of our generals and officers - the defense of Bakhmut is holding, and the possibilities are not yet exhausted," emphasized Maliar.
She named all the commanders by name.
Brigadier General Andrii Hnatov manages the defense of Bakhmut.
The defense of the eastern front, whose area of responsibility includes Bakhmut, is commanded by Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops.
Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi also heads part of the eastern front.
Directly in Bakhmut, the Brigade Commander of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar" Colonel Pavlo Palisa, and the Brigade Commander of the 3rd Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel Oleksandr Pivnenko, are defending.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, the Ministry of Defense also named two main tasks carried out by the defenders of Bakhmut. The Ukrainian defense forces in Bakhmut are destroying a lot of enemy manpower and equipment, as well as reducing the offensive potential of Russian troops.
