Support for Ukraine and the "challenges posed by China": Biden and Macron hold phone conversation

The topics of the conversation included military assistance to Ukraine and the challenges posed by China.

U.S. President Joe Biden and President of France Emmanuel Macron held a telephone conversation. The topics of the conversation included military assistance to Ukraine and the challenges posed by China.

The conversation took place on March 7. The White House reported it.

"The two leaders discussed their support for Ukraine as Russia's brutal invasion enters its second year, including their commitment to continue providing Ukraine with security assistance and imposing costs on Russia for its aggression," the statement said.

In addition, Biden and Macron discussed cooperation between the United States and France in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as joint efforts to "address challenges" posed by China to the "rules-based international order."

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, said he remains "optimistic" about whether Beijing might start openly helping Russia in the war. According to the Minister, if this does happen, Kyiv will ask its Western partners to take a strong position, including sanctions.

Earlier, the United States urged China to think carefully before starting to support the aggressor country. China's international reputation will depend on it.
