Russian forces are actively using artillery and large numbers of infantry in Avdiivka and Maryinka - Defense Forces
The Russian terrorist army continues to carry out assault operations at the Avdiivka and Maryinka directions. Putin's troops are mainly using artillery and a huge number of infantry.
At the same time, the enemy did not carry out a single air strike in this area of the frontline yesterday, January 19. Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun, spokesman for the Joint Press Center of the Tavria Defense Forces, said this on the air of the telethon.
According to him, in the Maryinka sector, militants are actively advancing in the area of Novomykhailivka. The enemy also continues to attack in the vicinity of Avdiivka.
At the same time, Stupun noted that during the day on January 19, the occupants did not carry out a single air strike in this area of the frontlines. However, the enemy launched a large number of artillery strikes and used S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to hit ground targets. A total of 592 attacks and three missile strikes were registered over the last day.
"They need to compensate for the air strikes with something, so they use missiles and artillery. As for the aviation, maybe the ammunition was not delivered somewhere, maybe the planes are undergoing some kind of routine maintenance, etc. Maybe the weather. There are many reasons," said Stupun.
As a reminder, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the losses of Russian troops in the area of Avdiivka in Donetsk region have increased significantly in recent weeks. At the same time, he did not give specific figures.
Earlier, Ukrainian military journalist Yuriy Butusov said that the situation in Avdiivka is critical. According to him, the enemy managed to get a hold of several buildings on the outskirts of the city.
