Provocations are possible: AFU on what to expect from Russia on Christmas Day

In 2023, Orthodox Christians in Ukraine will officially celebrate Christmas on December 25 for the first time. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have spoken about whether the terrorist state could intensify its attacks on Ukrainian cities during the holiday.

During the United News TV marathon, the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Humeniuk, said that shelling by enemy troops during Christmas is possible. However, she emphasized that the occupiers could attack Ukraine regardless of a specific date.

According to her, shelling can happen at any time. Humeniuk noted that intense shelling also took place recently. In addition, there is an activity of enemy drones moving towards the settlements of the Kutsurub and Ochakiv communities. Therefore, the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not rule out the possibility of shelling on December 25.

"This means that the enemy is trying to disperse our efforts. Thus, such provocations of intensified shelling are possible. We must understand that this nation has no moral limits," Humeniuk said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the destruction of three Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers by the Ukrainian Defense Forces had a significant impact on the situation in the southern sector. Humeniuk said that the invaders are now trying to find out how the Ukrainian military managed to hit their planes. The Russians even paused the use of guided aerial bombs.

Earlier, it was reported that Air Defense Forces shot down four Russian Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones over the Dnipro region on the evening of December 23. There were no hits, but the wreckage of the destroyed targets caused damage.
