"Out of the question": Scholz finds new reason not to provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles

Scholz reaffirmed his unwillingness to provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that his country does not intend to provide Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles. The head of the German government explained that the transfer of such weapons is excluded, as it requires the participation of German military personnel.

He also hinted that Germany is afraid to transfer these missiles because of their range. This was reported by The Guardian.

Scholz explained that German soldiers would need to be involved in the operation of Taurus cruise missiles. It was this factor that the chancellor explained Germany's refusal to transfer the weapons system to Ukraine.

At the same time, the head of the German government said that the Taurus missile can hit targets at a great distance. Therefore, Germany wants to control the use of these missiles.

"You cannot create a weapons system that will have a very long range and then not think about how you can control the weapons system. And if you want to have control, it is possible only with the participation of German soldiers, for me, it is out of the question," Scholz said.

As a reminder, Russian propagandists have published the content of a nearly 40-minute conversation between German Air Force Inspector General Ingo Gerhartz and three officers about the details of a possible supply to Ukraine and the use of Taurus cruise missiles. The conversation allegedly took place on February 19.

After that, the German Defense Ministry promised to thoroughly check the information about Russia's interception of the talks between representatives of the German Air Force. This refers to a 40-minute audio conversation between German generals published by Russian propagandists.
