The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže, ran the first 21-kilometer half marathon in her life. The diplomat accepted this challenge to raise funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result, she managed to raise more than 12 thousand euros. Baiba Braže announced this on her page on the social network X.

The foreign minister ran under the number 815, which symbolized the number of days that Ukraine has been resisting Russian armed aggression. She also noted that the money raised would be used to purchase drones.

"Thank you to all the supporters! We have raised almost 10 thousand euros. Let's do a little more! The half marathon was hard, but I am happy to be among 34 thousand participants and finishers. I did it! I am grateful to the organizers and the coaching team, especially to coach Ilona Marela," the Foreign Minister wrote.

The fundraising platform for the Armed Forces states that a regular FPV drone can cost up to 1,000 euros, but its defense capabilities are extremely high. Such a drone can destroy enemy equipment worth millions of dollars.

"The increase in the number of drones on the front line makes the fighting against the Russian occupiers more technologically advanced, and therefore strengthens the protection of brave Ukrainian soldiers," the statement reads.
