The spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ihnat noted that the French Mirage 2000 fighter jets that Paris is ready to transfer to Kyiv will not be able to replace the multifunctional ones that our pilots need to gain air superiority. On the contrary, Russian air defense can simply destroy them.

He said this during a press conference, Ukrinform reports. Ihnat emphasized that Ukraine appreciates any help from its partners, but this is not the case.

"What can an A-10 jet do for us if Russian air defense simply destroys it? We need to gain air superiority. We need a multi-purpose aircraft, a modern one," explained the military.

Ihnat emphasized that modern Western fighter jets will help to reduce the activity of enemy aircraft in the southern and eastern directions, protect the airspace of Ukraine, as well as conduct precision strikes on land, water and air targets.

As a reminder, France intends to provide Ukraine with Mirage 2000 combat aircraft from its aviation arsenal. Negotiations on this topic are already underway between Kyiv and Paris.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Ihnat, a spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the process of training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 "has moved forward significantly." He also noted that the geography of countries that have joined the "aircraft coalition" to train Ukrainian pilots continues to grow.
