Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur has announced that his country will provide a new military aid package worth €20 million. The package will include, among other things, artillery ammunition and smaller caliber ammunition.

Pevcur made the statement during a visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.

"The package includes anti-tank guns, explosives, various types of artillery ammunition, gas masks, sniper equipment, smaller caliber ammunition, and much more. We have put together this package with a focus on bringing maximum benefit to Ukraine without reducing Estonia's defense readiness," Pevkur said.

In particular, the package includes 155 mm caliber shells, which is an additional contribution from Estonia to the European Union's initiative to send one million shells to Ukraine. The cost of this contribution will be partially covered by Denmark. However, the exact amount of ammunition is not disclosed for security reasons.

Pevkur also noted that with the arrival of summer, Ukraine especially needs ammunition, all components of air defense, as well as spare parts and electronic warfare equipment.

"The review of the situation on the battlefield provided by Defense Minister Umerov confirmed that this package is very much needed. However, it also clearly showed what Ukraine needs before the summer: ammunition, all air defense elements, as well as spare parts and electronic warfare equipment," he said.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said she could not guarantee that Tallinn would not send its military to Ukraine. She emphasized that "circumstances can change," so she would not make any promises.

Commenting on the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, Kallas noted that Kyiv had not asked for it. At the same time, Ukraine has asked Estonia to help the Defense Forces with ammunition and air defense equipment to repel Russian missile and drone attacks.
