"Can come all together": Boris Pistorius named terms of delivery of Leopard 2 tanks from Germany and Portugal to Ukraine

German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius has revealed when the Leopard 2 main battle tanks promised by Germany and Portugal might arrive in Ukraine. According to him, the equipment could be delivered to our country as early as the end of March.

According to him, it's about 21 units of armored vehicles. Spiegel reported it.

The head of the German Defense Ministry emphasized that the tanks would arrive in Ukraine with trained crews and then be able to go to the battlefield.

Pistorius also said that 18 tanks from Germany and three more Leopards from Portugal are expected to be delivered by the end of March.

"I can tell you that I have just learned that 18 German Leopard 2A6 tanks and three Portuguese tanks may arrive in Ukraine this month," the German Defense Minister said.

As a reminder, Poland will hand over another batch of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine in the coming days. It is about 10 of the 14 promised German battle tanks remaining.

Earlier, Poland promised to provide Ukraine with an additional 60 tanks. 30 of them are Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks. In total, Western allies have promised Kyiv more than 300 tanks.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the first four Leopard 2 tanks arrived in Ukraine on the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24. The batch was handed over by the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, during his visit to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall is negotiating the construction of a tank plant in Ukraine. According to the company's chairman of the executive board, Armin Papperger, 200 million euros may be allocated for the construction of the plant.
