"They were thoroughly tested": Air Force explained how Ukrainian pilots were selected for training on F-16 jets
The Ukrainian pilots who are currently training on F-16 jets were selected through a test. Their combat training and a number of other important criteria were also included, in particular knowledge of English.
This statement was made by Colonel Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command. He said this on the air of the all-Ukrainian United News Tv marathon.
"The pilots who passed the relevant tests went to study. One of the criteria for selecting pilots is combat training, combat experience, and knowledge of English to quickly learn the material," Ihnat said.
He also noted that the pilots' training is proceeding in accordance with a carefully developed plan and schedule, and they are already successfully improving their skills during flights.
The spokesperson clarified that Ukrainian pilots will face challenges in Ukraine that even instructors have not often encountered in their professional activities.
"These include intercepting targets such as Shahed drones and cruise missiles. You can still learn all this directly there, with Western instructors," he added.
It is worth noting that the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev, said the arrival of long-range weapons and F-16 aircraft in Ukraine was not long to wait. He believes that this will contribute to the achievement of even greater successes of Ukrainian defenders on the battlefield and further liberation of the territory from the enemy.
As previously reported, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that F-16 jets would appear in Ukrainian sky this year. Russian occupiers will feel it immediately.
