Budanov explains whether barriers near the Crimean bridge can stop Ukrainian naval drones

After the attacks on the Crimean Bridge, the Russian occupiers decided to strengthen its defences. To do this, they are installing boom barriers near the structure, which the invaders expect will stop Ukrainian maritime drones.
These barriers will make the work of Ukrainian drones somewhat more difficult, but they will not prevent it, as there are already examples of this. This was stated by the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with Krym. Realii.
He believes that the installation of boom barriers near the Crimean bridge will not have the effect that the Russian occupiers are counting on. Ukrainian drones have already shown that they can break through such barriers.
"For example, there was a case when marine scooters entered the waters of Sevastopol Bay. It [the marine drone] was destroyed during the approach to the Admiral Essen frigate, right during the approach. If you look at this situation at first, it seems to be unfortunate. But the blast wave - because it was destroyed about 100 metres from the ship, and the charge is quite powerful - and the shrapnel completely damaged the ship's electronic equipment, some electronics, antennas, certain systems and the hydroacoustic system. And it took 3.5 months to repair, 3.5 months to stand in the dock," Budanov said.
According to him, boom barriers have also been installed in Sevastopol Bay.
"Sevastopol Bay is heavily fenced off. Yes, it will complicate the work, it will definitely complicate it. But it does not make it unrealistic... Again, the example of the frigate Essen. The booby-traps have been passed. What's next?" - Budanov said.
Earlier, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine told how Russians are trying to protect the Crimean Bridge. They intend to flood at least six ferries near the facility in order to create a protective strip in front of the bridge. It is planned to install boom barriers between the flooded ferries.
