Bild am Sonntag: Rheinmetall to supply Ukraine with Luna unmanned drone system

Rheinmetall German defense concern plans to provide Ukraine with the most advanced reconnaissance drones. It is about the Luna New Generation (Luna NG) unmanned aerial reconnaissance system, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces are to receive by the end of this year.
This is reported by the Bild am Sonntag, citing its sources in the company. This "drone package" will consist of a ground control station with several drones, a launching catapult and military trucks.
The Luna drone system from Rheinmetall is a brand-new drone system that surpasses the previous model in all important features. This drone system can be used as a reconnaissance system, provide an LTE network and intercept or jam enemy communications.
"NG stands for New Generation of the Luna drone. Other drone models have already been delivered to Ukraine from Bundeswehr warehouses," the statement said.
There will also be a version of this UAV that can carry weapons. The version of the drones that has been already supplied to Ukraine does not have such a function.
"The Bundeswehr should also receive attack drones. But the rules for the use of attack drones have to be drawn up by the federal government and adopted by the Defense Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. The troops cannot receive or use attack drones until these decisions are made," the article said.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Germany's largest arms manufacturer Rheinmetall has purchased 50 Leopard 1 tanks from the OIP Land Systems Belgian company. The concern will modernize them on its machines and then send 30 of them to Ukraine.
